Frame-to-frame Coherence of Multiresolution Ordered Meshes
José Ribelles, Miguel Chover, Angeles López and Joaquín Huerta
Multiresolution models represent objects providing a wide range of resolutions or levels of detail (LOD). Efficient storage and retrieval of the different LODs is necessary in order to achieve interactive visualization. In this paper we present a data structure and algorithm that, using a Multiresolution Ordered Meshes (MOM) representation, allow us to extract uniform resolution LODs exploiting the frame-to-frame coherence property. We study advantages and drawbacks of this new approximation by testing with different data sets and comparing the results obtained with the previous MOM representation.
